JR Peters Operations Manager

JR PETERS INC is a family-owned company in the Allentown area. We have been a leader in the horticulture industry for over 78 years manufacturing high quality fertilizers and now we’re looking for a dedicated team member that not only wants to help us continue that legacy but also build one for themselves.
Operations Manager
We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of production for our diverse product lines, including consumer packaged goods, wholesale commercial products, and bulk industrial products. This role is critical to our success, requiring participation at the highest management level to influence and direct efficient and cost-effective operations for the company.
Responsibilities:

Oversee all production operations, including blending and packaging ensuring adherence to established procedures and quality standards but being ready to help us improve where we need it most.

Collaborate with management and other departments to develop and implement optimized production schedules that ensure efficiency and on-time delivery. This role will be instrumental in driving improvements in these areas.

Manage your team with a hands-on approach, providing mentorship and fostering a positive, productive work environment that reflects and upholds our company culture at every level.

Members of your team will include: Production Crew Supervisor, Production Crew Chiefs, Product Line Operators, Nutrient Blenders, Warehouse Manager and Associates, and our Supply Chain manager.

Develop and track KPIs for each group to measure performance, identify growth opportunities, and implement corrective actions as needed. Utilize visual aids to promote efficiency and create a positive, motivating environment.

Maintain lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives in each area to improve processes and reduce waste.

Communicate with the Laboratory and QA/QC team to ensure our quality standards are being met.

Keep an open dialogue with our maintenance department to ensure the success of our production equipment, working together to minimize downtime and ensure the best performance.

Work with Management to develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.

Participate with our Safety Team to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, adhering to all safety regulations and promoting a strong safety culture.

Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and new technologies related to blended powder manufacturing.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Operations Management, Agricultural Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical industry. Experience with powder blending and packaging is highly desirable.

Proven history of successfully managing production operations, improving efficiency, and reducing costs.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and implement effective solutions.

Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Knowledge of relevant regulations and quality standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP, ISO).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ability to use ERP systems and other relevant software applications.

We are seeking individuals that value craftsmanship, and that will aide us in bettering all aspects of our Jacks’ products. You will be responsible for continuing to fuel our reputation as the industry’s top producer of highest-in-quality fertilizer products.
